Linda Mehrabian, Cello

Linda Mehrabian began her professional career as a cellist at the age of sixteen as the youngest member of the San Diego Symphony and remained a member of that orchestra for the subsequent six years. Her distinguished series of mentors included Joseph Di Tullio, Milos Sadlo, Edgar Lustgarten, and Daniel Rothmuller.

For fourteen years, Linda was an active Los Angeles studio musician, working on numerous movie scores and record albums. She also pursued a demanding career that included solo and chamber music performances and work with the Glendale Symphony and the Los Angles Philharmonic.

Linda has toured and soloed with many celebrities, including Burt Bachrach and Dinah Shore. She also has performed on recordings and live performances for Van Cliburn, Sammy Davis, Jr., Aretha Franklin, James Galloway, Olivia Newton John, Liberace, Ramsey Luis, Henry Mancini, Bette Midler, Luciano Pavarotti, Smokey Robinson, Frank Sinatra, The Spinners, Rod Stewart, Barbara Streisand, Dionne Warwick, John Williams, and many others.

After moving to Monterey in 1989, Linda began to participate in chamber and symphonic performances of the Mozart in Monterey Festival. Since 1992, she has served as a regularly performing member of the Monterey County Symphony Orchestra. Linda and her musician colleagues are called on frequently to perform at weddings, parties, and corporate events in Monterey and surrounding counties.

Jenny Bifano, Violin & Viola

Jenny Bifano studied violin with Claire Hodgkins, teaching assistant to Jascha Heifetz, and with Jacob Krachmalnick, professor of violin at the University of Michigan. She has played many national and international competitions and has had a distinguished career as a violinist, having played with the California Symphony, San Jose Symphony, Ann Arbor Chamber Orchestra, Palm Springs Symphony, and Windsor Symphony (Canada). She has soloed with the Solano Symphony, Twice Festival in Detroit, and Composers' Forum and has toured several continents doing solo and chamber music recitals, including a tour of the US with the Western Opera Theatre.

Jenny currently performs with the Monterey Mozart Festival Chamber Orchestra and the San Francisco Opera, Ballet, Chamber Symphony. She is in great demand as a studio musician and performs regularly for various films, documentaries, television shows, and television and radio commercials. Jenny has performed with, or recorded for, many celebrities, including Smokey Robinson, Tony Bennett, Burt Bachrach, Natalie Cole, Rod Stewart, Placido Domingo, Gladys Knight, Charlie Hayden, Santana, Henry Mancini, Dionne Warwick, Linda Ronstadt, Moody Blues, and John Williams. She also has served as concertmaster for Kenny G and played for President Ford.

With over 17 years of intensive professional experience, Jenny is sought after both as a violinist and a violist for performances at weddings, corporate events, and private parties. She currently resides in Carmel Valley.

Andrei S. Bostan, Violin

Andrei S. Bostan began studying violin at the age of seven and obtained his Diploma of License in Violin Performance from the Cluj-Napoca Conservatory of Music of the Academy of Romania. After Graduating from the Conservatory, Andrei's exceptional musical ability secured him a first violin section position with the State Opera of Cluj-Napoca (1972-1976). During this period, Andrei also played and recorded with several jazz groups on both guitar and violin. Andrei is a highly professional classical violinist with the unusual combination of abilities in both the classical as well as the improvisational (jazz) arenas.

Since his arrival in the United States, Andrei has performed with numerous musical organizations, including the Monterey County Symphony, Oregon Festival Orchestra, Santa Cruz Symphony, West Bay Opera, Black Tie Jazz Orchestra, Arioso String Quartet, and Caffezino Jazz Quintet. Andrei's rich and diverse musical background is a major asset to our string groups and, when requested to do so, we enjoy showcasing some of his extraordinary improvisational abilities.

David Allcott, Viola

David Allcott started playing Viola in public school when he was nine years old. He began his professional music career as Regular Extra Violist with the Milwaukee Symphony at age 17. After graduating from MIT with a B.S. in Management, he played in Las Vegas for two years as a backup musician for many popular artists. Moving to Italy, he played a season with la Scala Opera in Milan. He then returned to the US to complete a Master of Music Performance degree at Boston University where he studied with violists Walter Trampler and Raphael Hillyer. He worked for nine years as Principal Violist of the Rhode Island Philharmonic before moving to California in 1994.

Our chamber group is proud to have David Allcott as its violist, because exceptional violists like David are very rare. Currently, David also plays with the Monterey Symphony and other area orchestras and chamber music groups. He is also a Senior Software Engineer at Symantec Corporation where he writes software development tools for the Internet.
